My Commitment

BUKIE’S PLEDGE FRAMEWORK

PLEDGE encapsulates my commitment to four key pillars—Policy Leadership, Economic Development, Growth, and Equity—while symbolizing a promise to deliver on these focal points with transparency, accountability, and community involvement.

As a candidate for City Council representing District 2 in Mulberry, GA, I am committed to leveraging my extensive professional experience and deep-rooted passion for community service to drive positive change in our district. With over a decade of experience in financial planning and business strategy, I bring skills in managing budgets, making data-driven decisions and leading cross-functionally. I am well prepared to tackle the complex issues of city governance; including fiscal management, enforcing the city charter (such as NO property taxes), and planning for long-term growth.

READY TO DO THE HEAVY LIFTING

"I’m committed to serving Mulberry’s District 2 as your City Council Representative. But I can’t do it alone—your support and contributions are vital to making this vision a reality."
About Bukie Faforiji

Leadership. Experiences. Values!

My journey has been shaped by a commitment to excellence and community advocacy. I have a Master’s degree in Business Analytics from the University of Cincinnati, OH and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. I am a Fellow of the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute (GWPI), advocating for state-level policy proposals that uplift women, girls, and families in our state. This work continues to deepen my understanding of the challenges our community faces and the importance of equitable policies that benefit all residents.

In 2018, I was honored to receive the YWCA Cincinnati Rising Star award, which recognizes women for their exceptional leadership and career achievement. The following year, I completed the nonprofit board and equity leader certification, further solidifying my commitment to community leadership and equity-focused initiatives.

Last year, I had the privilege of completing the Gwinnett County Citizens Academy, where I expanded my knowledge of local government operations and how to effectively engage with county leadership. This experience has further prepared me to represent our community and ensure that our voices are heard at the highest levels of local governance.

In addition to my professional accomplishments, I have a proven record of defending the interests of our community. When a proposed development in Flowery Branch threatened to negatively impact our subdivision by increasing traffic congestion and disrupting our peaceful environment, I stood alongside my neighbors to oppose the project. I actively participated with our HOA, attending meetings and presenting our concerns at planning commission hearings. Our collective efforts paid off when the commissioners voted in our favor, preventing the rezoning that would have allowed an obscenely large warehouse facility to be constructed directly opposite our homes.

As your representative on the City Council, I will bring this same level of dedication and strategic thinking to protect and enhance the quality of life in District 2. Five years ago, my family and I moved to now-Mulberry city, excited to be part of a thriving and diverse community. I remember attending my daughter’s field day and seeing about six classes competing at her grade level. Fast forward to her most recent field day, and there were 11 classes—almost double! It was surprising to see shipping containers scattered around the school, which I later learned were makeshift classrooms. The overcrowding was quite concerning, as some students couldn’t even eat together in the cafeteria.

This rapid development is outpacing our infrastructure, placing considerable strain on our schools and community resources. It’s a clear sign that we must take a proactive approach to ensure Mulberry’s growth is sustainable, with the proper planning and investment in infrastructure to keep up with the needs of our citizens.

I will advocate for transparent and accountable governance, support initiatives that drive responsible economic development, and ensure that our community remains a place where all residents can thrive. Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant Mulberry led by a council that reflects our city – a rich diversity of ideas, experiences and cultures. I humbly ask for your support in this journey to make our district the best it can be.
